Peace

We all fought,
The enemy and us,
For one thing,
Peace

We shot and killed,
They fell, still in line.
We were poisoned,
And bombed,
And deafened, by hate,
by love, and by the sounds of war.
Is that Peace?

Now we lie,
Still in line,
Under the gravestones that name us,
Or someone else.
Rows and rows of us,
Just lying here.
Is that Peace?

Temagami

Questions were left unanswered
Thoughts were nagging at the back of our minds
We drove, flew and went on water to get there
We were taught what to do
But we still didn’t know what lay ahead
We ate drank and slept
A luxury compared to the trip
We finally set out
For our trip
We worked non-stop, through headwind
Through portaging and setting up camp
Tears were shed,
But we couldn’t stop
We weren’t allowed to stop
Days passed and we all learned
This is amazing
We were taught
Not by School teachers or principals or our parents
But by what was around us
Wilderness, lakes, canoes, paddles, wanigans
A life lesson
Learned here

Grandfather Clock Poem

It sits in our front hall
Worn from the time it had to tell
Broken down
But not completely
It still tells a time
A time when its pendulum swung
And its hands moved
A time now lost
And forgotten
And so it sits
And remembers
